Guthwine Sword (Factory Seconds)1
I have wanted this sword since I first saw the films, and recently have got to a position where I could get it. I was a little worried about it being a "factory second", and emailed with my concern, but a response from Kolbe with photos allayed my worries. getting the scabbard as well was a wonderful bonus.
This is a magnificent sword. The detail is excellent. I can find no flaws beyond some tiny pale blotches on the rear of the scabbard to suggest it is a factory second. The sword and scabbard I received were the ones that Kolbe sent photos of.
It is a little heavier and shorter than my Viking broadsword, and the balance point is further down the blade. Neither of these are a problem.
It is, however, far better looking than my broadsword - it is indeed a thing of beauty.
The scabbard loops are well placed to hold the scabbard at the right angle.
Sadly, I am informed by my wife that a sword is not an acceptable everyday accessory, otherwise it would be with me all the time. As a compromise, it will be displayed in pride of place above my other swords.
Thank you to Magnoli, and particularly to Kolbe, for fulfilling a dream.
My advice is, if you want Guthwine and can afford it, get it here. You won't be disappointed...

Overall this is a great set for a more than fair price! After 7 long years of waiting, it was nice to have this sword finally in my hands (and it was in my hand everyday for a week straight!). Well balanced and the hallmarks of a truly "handmade" piece. For the price you also get a full leather over wood scabbard, display plaque, and international shipping - hard to beat for a movie sword replica. Unfortunately I did find the Fit & Finish a little below expectations (even for a handmade sword) and the details in the metal furniture could have been a bit cleaner - so I would rate this as a 4.5/5 (sadly I could not give half a star lol).
